In
2007, the Government of Canada declared the month of October as Canadian Islamic
History Month.The province of Ontario passed the Islamic Heritage Month Act
(2016) to recognize and affirm the important contributions that Muslims make in
Ontario as part of the vibrant social, economic, political and cultural fabric
of our province. During this month, we will celebrate and learn about the rich
and longstanding contributions of Muslim Canadians to this nation. We want to
take this opportunity to invite community members to help us decorate the display in our front foyer. You can bring your ideas, artifacts or images that would
reflect Islamic Heritage. You can also be a guest speaker at our school. Please contact the school office if you are interested in this
opportunity. We are hoping that the front foyer and display cases are
ready by October 3. We will have our first meeting in
room 134 on September 21 at 8:30 a.m.
